We have just posted instructions on how to use the Text an Ambassador service at ALA Annual in Chicago. Text an Ambassador is a free conference service offered by ALA, Mosio's Text a Librarian and the helpful volunteer Ambassadors. Text an Ambassador provides instant access to all the conference information you need no matter where you are. No mobile web, data plan or downloading necessary. You text your question from your phone. An Ambassador will answer. It's that easy.
Text ALA to 66746 now to test your phone or visit http://www.textalibrarian.com/ambassador.php for more info.
We're absolutely thrilled to be powering the mobile info booth at the ALA Annual Conference this summer in Chicago. The service, dubbed "Text an ALA Ambassador" for the conference, enables attendees to text questions from their mobile phones and ALA Ambassadors to answer via a web interface.
More details on how to use the service will be announced soon, but for now here's the press release.
Special thanks to this accurate (albeit early) review of Mosio's Text a Librarian from the Librarian in Black (Sarah Houghton-Jan). We officially launched the service at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in late January, so all reviews prior to this time period were on an alpha/beta system. Sarah has been very helpful in giving us feedback since then and we have launched over a dozen new features since ALA Midwinter. The carrier-approved system works on over 260 million US mobile phones and is being well received by our customers.
We invite you to stop by the site and see our features list or sign up for a webinar and try it for yourself.

Here's a little snippet from his post:
"Have a question, but you're too busy to fumble with the keypad? Driving? Leaving voicemail in your drop is a lot easier and safer than punching in a text message, especially while on the road. And you aren't time-restricted as you are with Jott: Instead of 15 seconds, you can drop ~400 minutes of voicemail. Call a phone number, enter a 5 digit PIN, speak, and hang up. Drop, Twitter, Mosio, and the QnAgents will do the rest!"
Thanks rivalarrival, happy dropping!
The Mosio Team
We're flattered, thanks MashupAwards! Well, let's see...first we'd like to thank, uh, well, wait what? Oh, wrap it up? Ok, thanks everyone!
This is one of our favorite pieces of coverage, simply because we really loved this idea as well. Company swag can be so lame and we didn't want to go out like that, so we tried something new. Thanks to Josh Lowensohn for noticing and recognizing in his article "Mosio taps into Twitter community for mobile Q&A service"
The caption is our favorite: "Best, Web swag. Ever."
"I love this idea of just texting in questions when you need information instead of trying to go find it for myself (what’s that you say? Lazy? Nah….) We liked most of what we found here, and it’s pretty high on the cool factor."
Thanks Michael!

"To keep the good karma flowing, I plan to be a Mosio answerer too; it's better to give and receive."
